slam poetry, and the shakespeare actor on the perpetual motion machine

some say shakespeare is slam poetry: to which: "i'll slam your shakespeare" ( and i'm still waiting for that invitiation!)

what is slam poetry?
its ordinary. its usual. its conversation that has been taken apart and put back together. it follows a general structure, rhyme pattern, similiar content: rise up from oppresion, uplift, common exerience; it's accesible without study of other poetic materials, tonical, event related. (source: physical therapist at evos & i engaged in "criticial community conversation" (C.C.C.) on the subject)

Such thing as a pertetual motion machine : wherein all things are changing.. or is this an illusion?
First of all, Bruce Andrew's concept of the P.M.M (perpetual motion machine) has to do with words. The P.M.M does not support an inherant crystaline purity of the word. There can be no inherant trust in the word to do its job of conveying, thus the perpetual motion machine creates movement and a new structure (of word to convey idea)
I'm not sure if any of that makes sense.. but i'll tell you.. that actor had an entirely different set of commentary -- which i do appreciate. something to the depth of "the perpetual motion machine itself is an illusion because..." and the idea that "material can neither be created nor destroyed -- it just changes form". he went on to say that a woman has all the eggs in her body and thus her daughter already lives inside of her. so my question for the actor is: does each character live inside you?

community involvement

Given proper introduction, survey= ease of transfer. something like (all this floaty space and irie vibes and they already love the paper they're about to get) first day: all students and librarians then couple friends and poets - second day: town and there were older reader types, retired park ranger and dancer... some dreams weavers and cosmic believers. seek 'em out ya know, take up what they have brewing inside their trunks and its a lot like branches, branches and water.

Dropping into that poetic space or inbetween breaths like a saturday morning with music in the coffee shop or fresh european brew. in and entry = people engage. some want beyond transformative and seem to know god, while others experience others as ordinary and structured. once, there are bars between me and a survey i hop up a distinguished water bed with a rabbit. that's the best, cause its towards the actor and as an afterthought, i liked the bars

bars == does structure lead to openess? In my survey yes, structure to climb and papers passing through black space between bars, once, twice and a third with a rabbit. Given structure language poets respond with dramatic openess: RAdical Praxis within structure: as in words floating through space and syntax, a perpetual motion machine.

most people said yes structure leads to dramatic openness, but No, when my life is ordered and structured it is NOT more free. two diff. answers to essentially the same question. what's the diff?

thanks, thats all for today -- i'll have to organize somemore

Gossip as an art form

Two days in a row this has been happening and i'm really going to have to get some sleep at some point. The revolution is exciting! and with new friends in town and spring bossums there is no chance in fleshin' out this snowball action. message: the bubble may not pop for a while. the mature discourse is interesting, it has a lot to do with talking about mature discourse and talking about gossip as an art form. gossiping about discourse and art forms. i'm really only advanced on the trampoline, but sometimes the tone carries the rhythm,

true -- i've got the rabbit with me and katya even liked it..she's eight. they like to hold it and its a teddy bunny or something -- atleast that's what i had in mind for her birthday. can't keep consciousness streaming any longer-- the nap in the park today was my highlight and sometimes i pretend that i know what i'm saying about gossip and community involvement -- though i do believe in its potential to unify

My poetic movement

the international cafe and it would have to do with gossip and coconut mattes. community foundation and accomodation, inclusivity and shared meals. i even found a sheet of paper in a black leather bound book .. someone quoted me on "what is poetry" and said i was a co-founder of the movement

"sometimes words themselves don't have any meaning & what we really want is a show on the page"

final project

i'm working on my final and its absolutely ridiculous -- i'm gonna bring some tomorrow i think and see how it goes

reactionary ringtones and gossip

hey everyone -- i'm just here reading brandon brown's blog on gossip in preparation for tomorrow and life -- npr is blastin' from the kitchen and the biscuits have filled the house with the smell of butter -- yumm -- can't help but comment on the "reactionary ringtones" banned in Tibet -- these songs are all peace and kum bie yah at the fire, singing of the sun, moon and stars. The poet speaking, the younger sister of the dali lama, never thought political labels should reach music in the ways they have, while others say the "reactionary" label makes them "finally exposed" given the "ringtone" ban.

lyrics are like "all the children of the land of snow pay absolute tribute to you" as they speak to the poet, sister of the dali lama. the songs are of exile of the sun --> dali lama, and the moon & stars --> other dali blanks. gossip is not idle talk like wiki says -- it is so cohesive and grounded! my god, this is community building! i had a weekend last week and i had all gossip and no community. is there a poetic community? yes, more poets now than ever, thanks to blogs and cosmic spider webs. is there a community? is ashland a community? this weekend didn't show me that -- there is potential, and i've a community, but as for the larger spectrum -- help us please

in the spirit of talking points, which really orders reality (i.e) = equals = "writing responds with dramatic openess" when undergoing contraint, i will proceed: first of all, i was an escort. Brook needed to go out and she couldn't walk alone. she might have been left there in the house had the street to her duplex not led me there. she washed her hair in a bottle of tibetan rose water, obviously not banned due to political content. it's imported and fair trade, and i know she doesn't have a lot of money, but she just had to do it for spiritual reasons -- well said. next, while escorting, the stars shown. and when arrived, me very capricorn, though in a piscean manner, checked the carriage/bike trailor for a child. i had been with the bike-trailor-child's-mother eariler in the day, having found her at the food store. she beckoned me to her house where we smoked a spliff with zach and the framed indian picture.

from the deck we left the bike trailor from our thoughts and brook smoked some american spirit tobacco from the blue pouch. she prays with tobacco, but when she gets distracted and forgets to pray, she just gives thanks, on the deck to the tobacco gods and the framed indian picture, although she doesn't know it.

1. i go to the food store when i'm looking for someone to do something with -- it never fails
2. i hover around dari, the child who rides in the bike stroller, and it was his mother who....

continuing, as any good escort, i walked brook to the door. i would have stayed but i didn't have my ID or anything, even though brook brought me $3 for the cover. the door guys took her in, and i, in any sort of demuir manner a capricorn, early in piscean adventures, psychically moved in to hug brook good bye, although not physically, at which point the door man said, "and you're both 21 i suppose".. so brook gave him the $6 bucks she had and he didn't seem to mind the cover was $5 .. each obviously to his own.. "all night you're going to find out why you're here" brook told me, i knew for a reason she was a truth speaker because all day (since 5) i had been trying to go home and people held me out until now...

night proceeded with some friends by the fire and brook even got one of them to buy us drinks although i'm not so inta horny toads... deschuttes was off tap.. the music was alright until later and that's when we started to dance. yay, but inbetween this we hung out with our extremely horny friends who bought up horny toads.. somehow they have money... and are horny... horny money.. yes...

jason took us outside and we watched through the windows, like any good aquarian counterpart.. (always enjoying watching and exemplifying the connatations of language.. 'i want to do you" versus "i want to bed you" like the actor said to me.. doing you happens in the laundry room, between the dryers.. and bedding.. well that's the shakespeare actors' tongue for ya.. but jason thinks it has to do with granny panties and hot cereal. hot cereal and getting tucked in.. sounds warm :)

when we went to go back inside.. all smitten and so.. (i just saw jason in my third eye as i wrote that..) we saw a cop by the bike trailor... there was fog on the zipped up front part and when people breathed we could see their breath in the air.. i stood by and Brook supported and i gave the cop a word or two.. though the mother said I WAS babysitting.. i told him.. "i have been a caretaker for the child" when he asked me the very same question. i'm open to talking to DHS for her, it's not a matter of anything but the truth and give or take some ill decisions, i know she loves that kid more than most things

the music got better, my sisters were raging and i didn't even know it was them on the mike.. they brought the truth straight and live and true, like the arrow i've left at home in it's quiver.. raged and raging.. we lost jason to the wind and ali soon became part escort. i tried to bring them to MY house for some warm milk.. it is a couple mile walk through the forest.. and we scarcely made it past the plaza. though once at ali's (warm) house we slept in a bed of velvet pillows and dreamed common dreams. we had warm (chocolate) milk, and dehydrated kale "chips".. that rah, mon. what's the point of all this?

i have a community but i'm dissapointed in ashland's. Why were the cops called? crucial question one. whoever called felt like shit and he should have been more couragous. it takes courage to go up on the deck and say "hey! hey you bitches! whose baby is this? i'm so worried, i wanna call the cops!" .. but no, the cops were just called without warning. when does the community step up to make sure everyone is accounted for. fuck me standing over the 13 month baby at two am outside the bar with the fog on the bike trailor cover!

Sound Poetry Explorations

Jaap Blonk : first image from the installation "Messa di Voce" -- an extremely freshing piece inspiring life and breathing again -- forget all your conventions about what poetry is and surrender to sound healing -- the rudiments of words and the actual begining of poetry itself as a primative and oral form of language akin to shamanic healing in ways i have seen this sound vibration entrance people so as to heighten their perception to the ritual -- i just let the sounds wash over my brain and vibrate my body -- i can FEEL the vibration through the voice and the undulations -- the words project on the screen and we're insight sound
"Ursonate" i'd say is akin to fantasia somehow -- sounds project balls on a black and green stage and it's really something magical -- straight out of the seventh dimension (that's some high consciousness) "Messa di Voce" puts me at his mercy and i am a believer
Kenneth Goldsmith drives me nuts! so disorienting, such an audio picture of the media, a moment in the air, the ears of the bees and humingbirds flying sideways and jacked up on soda pop -- akin to free radicals in the air and our bodies -- painful-- sneering-- praying -- then i just can't take it any longer -- this is worse than waterboarding (maybe not) -- very important representation of society, and sound, and sound abuse, thanks kenny g
more action below the pink suit:
Hugo Ball germain words floating through space and nice to listen to it's melodic -- like something to listen to when i'm staring at the wall or doing the dishes -- scrub scrub and melodies like sweetness -- the woman though, Marie Osmond, she's got some conviction -- i stop the dishes and remove my apron to chop some veggies or turn an ear of corn though rich lavious butter... butter...
i can get into Tristan Tzara especially L'amita Cherche Une Maison..." which i'd say stands proud against some of his other works because he's brought in his friends here and i'm at the opera with my theatre glasses and all -- i love the opera and i love the voices -- he embodies all though a unified sound -- he says DADA is a virgin microbe
not much on Kurt Schwitters though i don't do the dishes with him.. i watch his art

Baraka on Barak

Entitled: "Obama '08—Act Like We Know"

http://www.nathanielturner.com/barakaactlikeweknow.htm

This really deserves some introduction -- i know its so true that the sixtys are past us that the activists don't fill the street spouting poetry through their limbs in a manner of expression and exploitation of a system failed to them... i really get this and so Baraka is the standing man to account that this actually happened.. pple be so disorganized these days.. words don't carry the same damn meanin.. harder to get a rise.. a raise.. a rise... not so suprising and totally fragmented bording on schitzo... still baraka... he attests to the times... the activism brought forth by poets of the past and he's got some things to spout out his flower hole:

first: private monies and lobbying -- "the less we do the less we can expect Barak Obama to respond to us" and Baraka attests that yes, money does speak the loudest but that ain't shit cause Obama dowin' the big monie fronts at the heart of Capitalist shenanigans!

second: capitalist shenanigans! Obama is changing the U.S. political structure -- he ain't gonna let even his best of pple standing by him to represent if they got tax fraud -- like OBama said - there aren't two laws: one for priority people and one for the common people

i'll stop numbering now -- i just wanna point out that Baraka is tellin it how it is - he's got a political voice and i don't think he'll ever stop puttin it to use -- isn't this the direction we want to take - -is he someone we can draw from to come together?

I will make a statement about the generation much supported by the lazy american too large culturation: there is a whole hell of a lot of talkin and not so much action : baraka is telling us this is what haunts our movment - the error -- the talking about the revolution and the balking

he empowers the blacks and i appreciate that esp. now that we got a black man runnin things and i'd like to see some black pple stepping up cause we sure as hell ready for their flava -- he spouts on that our earlier black leaders are delusions -- they be like a "negro is a bow to the civil rights movement" -- he supports Obama in the same way he supported lincoln-- his former incarnation

NOT Closet Poetry

Poet Laureate: 2001 headlines internationally & at home in our great nation headlines "Who Blew Up America" headlines

"Who knew the World Trade Center was gonna get bombed/Who told 4000 Israeli workers at the Twin Towers/To stay home that day..Who make money from war/Who make dough from fear and lies/Who want the world like it is/Who want the world to be ruled by imperialism and national oppression and terror/violence, and hunger and poverty..."

AMIRI B 10/01

Absolutely explicit, trying society's preconceived notion of security through his own absense of preconceived notion of writing. The "All is permitted" vibration, Baraka demands complete freedom in expression through poetry - all of which introduced in "How You Sound" 1959.
Born LeRoi Jones, he had a brief flight with the US Air Force until an anonymous letter found - speaking out on the presumably communist commanding officer -- granted the words of which 'honorably' discharged him from the service. Finding the Greenwich Village with the Beats, he later got an Obie award from the the "Village Voice" and it is known that he worked in the "Gotham BOOK Mart", a literary salon and cultural landmark in Manhattan where he interfaced with many other minds and throats - (years of operation: 1920-2007).
Notably civil rights, black rights, anti-colonialism/ imperialism/ racism /oppressionism... oriented --he was a politically active artist in Cuba for some time and rioted on the streets after Dr. King's assasination, carrying a gun in his pocket, he was arrested, though he resisted and was sentenced three years jail time -- of which was thrown out shortly there after the offense in the rioted streets - post Dr. King... (Imagine the moment) -
First wife, Hettie Cohen, white and Jewish.. Malcolm X was taken down and Baraka "began to hold all white people responsible"... one day he simply left wife and children -- he explains.. (Hettie CohenGoGothe Gnding) -- "I was caught downtown one day with white people and left. As simple as that. Like one day you got public hair" -- Makes perfect since to me... seemingly, the freedom from preconceived notions extends into private life, and like the poem of which everything must be made to fit into, so is the same with life -- there is no "design for what the poem/ i.e. life/ ought to be" ("How You Sound??")
The "Blessed Prince": Amiri Baraka, so named in 1968. So blessed, as to continually express the explicit content that begun in the 60's, and foreshadowed later 1st ammendment stories of the 21st century... Many wonder as to his elicit content as if it pertains only to his oppresion as a black man or whether it slams up against his subjectory views: racism/sexism/homophobia and anti-semitism?? He complimented his first wife in a later poem calling her a "cute fat jew," he told a white woman she could help with the movement by dying: i quote, "You can help by dying. You are a cancer" -- yeah -- What else, he said, "We (blacks) must eliminate the white man before we can draw a free breath on this planet" which is nothing compared to his claims that the white men owe him (and blacks) everything.. and that they want him (and blacks) to rape 'their' women -- ouch
None the less, we arrived at the 21st century and Amiri Baraka is the Poet Laureate of 2001, even after his poem "Who Blew Up America" connecting former President, B**H, to the attacks. His first ammendment story kept him from stepping down as poet Laureate, ironically enough, appointed by the government, poet laureate is expected to write poems for state occassions and government events -- well done Baraka! poetry lives in government -- 2002 granted him Poet Laureate of Newark County schools -- more and more of the 1st ammendment project.
Loftly ideas -- he proposed the 'invention' of AIDS, as to kill Blacks and well as a connection between former civil rights heros Dr. King and Lincoln -- Which of course leads us to the present and the most recent statment on O'Bama -- for everyone knows who Lincoln reincarnated as.. YOU GOT IT
